Boris Christoff (Bulgarian: Борис Христов (1914 -1993) was a Bulgarian opera singer, one of the greatest basses of the 20th century.

After several guest appearances and recitals in Austria in 1944 and 1945, Christoff returned to Italy in December 1945. He emerged as a worthy heir to the grand tradition of Slavonic basses as exemplified by Fyodor Stravinsky, Lev Sibiriakov, Vladimir Kastorsky, Feodor Chaliapin, Alexander Kipnis and Mark Reizen, among others. He sang mostly in Verdi and the Russian repertoire, although he also proved to be a refined performer of vocal chamber music.

Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras: Desirable lot of 3 photos, each one with authentic signature.

The Luciano Pavarotti autograph is from 1984, Placido Domingo autograph from 3 Tenors Autographs 1981 and the Jose Carreras signature from, 1983. All 3 have been signed in Wien. 3 single photos, same size: 4 x 6 inches. They would match perfectly if matted for display.

All 3 are in very fine condition and they come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Attractive Chinese Sculpture of a Tiger on a Stand. Huangmu-Wood.

China: Attractive wooden figurine, a tiger on a larger piece of wood, all carved from one piece of Huang-Mu wood. The use of the object was to weight paper for calligraphers and painters.

7,2 x 2,2 x 2,5 inches. Very fine condition. The object is most probably fort he Republic-period, eventually later. But sure it is no newer one.

Der Taotai of Kashgar. Scarce China-Postcard

Old postcard depicting "The Taotai of
Kashger (!)". ( A Taotai was an official at the head of the civil and military affairs of a circuit, which consists of two or more fu, or territorial departments- in this case Kasghar).

The postcard was published in Japan. Inscription in English, Japanese and Chinese. Brown toning of the upper margin otherwise fine condition. Unused, scarce.

Antique China Seal, 1914, Stone: Very good Seal.

Antique Chinese seal made of stone. It is either from 1914 or 1854. Delicately carved Fu-Lion at top
of the seal and artistically carved actual seal, carved by the artist Wu Zhi: „ Zhen Zi Xiao Wu” ( in the meaning of: The real Self is of no importance” ).

At the left side of the seal is a carving by the artist, stating date, receiver and name of the seal-carver.

1,2 x 1,2 x 5,1 inches. Great seal in fine condition.

Antique Chinese Snuff Bottle. Monkey. Glass overlay.

China: Antique glass overlay snuff bottle from the end of 19th century.
Glass overlay snuff bottle, green overlay on a white bottle.
The bottle is carved all around with a monkey and a tree at one side and a squirrel and leaves at the reverse.
Glass stopper and bone spoon.
Size: 2,6 x 1,8 x 1,1 inches.
There are some white inclusions in the white part of the glass. Fine condition.
